A lengthy article from NYMag about Comedy Central’s new show Important Things with Demetri Martin, includes an image slideshow of Demetri’s random sketchbook. Demetri is also on the cover of the printed magazine this week.
I’m looking forward to a new comedy show that incorporates simple illustrations, graphs, animations and hand-lettering throughout. I have high hopes for a comedy host with an eye for design and illustration. Demetri “occasionally likes to visit the design section at MoMA to stand and admire a lamp, or a chair, or even a doorstop in which, by removing the extraneous parts, the designer has revealed the essential object…” (read more at nymag) Back in 2005, Gothamist posted an interview with the comedian.
Also, the show will host a weekly Important Things Picture Contest.
